Monthly Favourites // March 2018

Welcome to my Monthly Favourites for March 2018. This month we have seen Snow, Sun and Rain. I have had a busy month and have lots of new favourites.

What has happened this month:

  • I visited the theatre to see The Play That Goes Wrong.
  • Booked tickets to go and see Matilda at Birmingham Hippodrome with my friend.
  • Visited Everyman Cinema to watch Ready Player One.
  • Spent our second month with Teddy.
  • We had a few snow days.
  • We visited Matt’s sister for a weekend and had a lovely snowy countryside walk.
  • We celebrated Matt’s birthday and also Mother’s Day.
  • I got obsessed with Netflix – once again – and binge watched Season 4 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Episodes.
  • We had an impromptu shopping trip to Birmingham and I picked up some bargains and some clothes which I wouldn’t usually pick-up.
  • Half of my face became swollen. I think we have got to the cause now, which is a wisdom tooth playing up and I will need to have it removed 🙁

Film – Ready Player One

I have been waiting for Ready Player One to be released since Summer last year, and when I saw it this week; I was not disappointed! It was a spectacle to watch, the CGI was AMAZING, the story was great and the sound effects immersed you in the Oasis!

The film is set in the future – which is pretty bleak – and everyone has a VR headset and escape to a place called The Oasis! There you compete to win coins, and it is a whole different world in there. No-one in there knows your true identity in the real world and you can be whoever you want to be, living life through your avatar.

The story of the film is that the creator of the game has passed away and has hidden 3 keys in the game. The person who has all 3 keys will ultimately be the owner of The Oasis. The story follows a boy called Wade and his quest to find the keys.

I would recommend the film to anyone as it is a great watch. As you can tell by the amount I have talked about it already, I really enjoyed it!

TV Show – Riverdale & The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C

After Netflix started releasing Riverdale Season 2 every week, I got bored of waiting; so after episode 4 or 5, I gave up. When I finished binge-watching Friends, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Episodes, I gave Riverdale another go! I am now following the Season 2 through to the end and looking forward to seeing where it is going to go!

I have found Season 2 a little more difficult to watch. It does seem to be dragging it out this Season, and it is also complete with cheesy moments; such as the scene where Veronica and Josie are singing (in a music video style) at Veronica’s confirmation, and also the Dua Lipa looking scene in episode 16.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C

I have also been loving The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C. It is now on Channel 4 and takes place every week, and 4 celebrities take place. They are always very funny and also raising awareness for a good cause.

Theatre – The Play That Goes Wrong

I will be writing my full review on this show very soon, but I had to just say how much I loved this show! It is not like anything I have seen in the theatre before and it was BRILLIANT!

It is very slapstick, so may not be to everyone’s taste. The show was hilarious and everyone in the cast was perfectly in time with each other. You can tell the actors and actresses had a great time on the stage.

If it comes to a theatre near you, I would 100% recommend going to see the show.

Music – Twenty One Pilots

This month it has felt like Twenty One Pilots have been in my life a lot. They are always on Spotify, playing in the car and playing at my boyfriend’s house on his Alexa. I am not complaining though as I have been loving it!

My favourite tracks are Heathens and Stressed Out.

Soundtrack – Matilda: The Musical

As my friend and I have booked to see Matilda in the Summer, I have been once again obsessed with the soundtrack. It is such a dark soundtrack in my opinion, but it fits the show perfectly! The songs are so clever and will be stuck in your head for days.

Blogging – #OurTwentySomethingSpring

If you read my blog often or follow my Instagram, you will know that I always get obsessed with taking part in Gwennan’s (Twenty Something Meltdown) Instagram challenges. Now that we are in Spring, there is a new hashtag called the #OurTwentySomethingSpring.

My photo’s at the moment are very snowy ones, but hopefully, they will be more spring-like very soon.

Teddy’s Favourites – Julius-K9 Harness

This month Teddy has been going on a lot of walks. Teddy has the Julius-K9 in the size Baby 2 currently and we have just ordered him the next-size-up as he is growing very fast now. Teddy wear’s his harness for walks and also in the car as we can attach his seat belt to it. He loves the harness as it is comfy and it is also great for us as it is easy to put on him.
