Monthly Favourites // June 2017

Welcome to my Monthly Favourites for June 2017.

Once again I cannot start this blogpost without paying my respects to the tragedies in London this month. My thoughts are with everyone, but we stand together and support one another. We are strong!

June, oh June. You have been a strange month. For me, it has been very busy this month, but I am not complaining! It has been a good month and it even had a mini heat wave – as well as storms. Oops

What has happened this month:

  • My Boyfriend and I went to the BBC Good Food Show Summer & BBC Gardner’s World Live at the Birmingham NEC. The day was full of sunshine, flowers and food and it was lovely. A full review is coming soon so keep an eye out for that.
  • We had a lovely home cooked meal around our friend’s house with all of the gang. It was so lovely to chill with friends, relax and eat great food.
  • I went out to my cousins Hen Party and then went to a friends house for a relax outside with a fire pit. It felt a lot like Summer šŸ™‚
  • My Boyfriend took me out for a lovely romantic meal at a local Italian restaurant.
  • We celebrated Father’s Day with my Dad and went out for a family meal.
  • I have been working very hard on the Guest Blogger Series called ‘Travel in the UK‘ which will go live on 1st August 2017. The series has been in collaboration with 35 Guest Bloggers and I am very lucky to be working with some amazing people on this project. A welcome post to all my Guest Bloggers will be coming soon, so keep an eye out for more details.

Monthly Favourites // June 2017

FilmĀ – Wonder Woman & Shawshank Redemption

Wonder Woman

If you read my post on why Wonder Woman should be a role model, you will know how much I loved the film. Diana is strong, empowering and left me feeling brave enough to take on anything. The film was full of action as well as having a good story and message, and is a film which I recommend anyone to go and watch.

Shawshank Redemption

I don’t know how,Ā but up until a few weeks ago, I had never seen Shawshank Redemption. If you don’t know what it is about, it follows a man called Andy who is serving 2 life sentences for murder. It follows his ups and downs in prisonĀ and his friendship with Red. It really is worth a watch if you haven’t seen it before. It is ranked one of the best movies of all time.

TV Show – GLOW

Alongside watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Brooklyn Nine-Nine (for the tenth time), me and my boyfriend started watching the new TV show GLOW – short for Glamourous Ladies of Wrestling. It is very funny and is set in the 80s – so you can imagine the fashion, cars and lifestyle.

Music – Swish Swish // Katy Perry

I can’t explain it, but this song has been stuck in my head all month!

Soundtrack – Pitch Perfect 1 & 2

I love the Pitch Perfect films and with the trailer for Pitch Perfect 3 being realised, I have been listening to the soundtrack from the first 2 films. I can’t wait for the new film to come out.

Blogging – Twenty Something Meltdown // Summer Photo Challenge

One big favourite of mine this month has got to be taking part in my lovely friends InstagramĀ Challenge. Gwennan (from Twenty Something Meltdown) has created a Summer Bucket List where you tick off the photos you have been taking over summer – be it holding an ice cream or taking a walk in a local park. I cannot thank Gwennan enough as this photo challenge has really made me get out and about, especially on my lunch break. One day I even got to catch up with an old friend who I wouldn’t have seen unless I went out to take a photo of refreshing Cool Lime Refresha from Starbucks.

If you haven’t been taking part in this challenge…why not? I am sure you can tick a lot off the list. Just use the hashtag #OurTwentySomethingSummer on Instagram to check out all the lovely Summer photos.

Lifestyle – Fairy Lights

This month I paid a visit to my local Primark and decided to pick up some fairy lights on a whim. I wanted some for my room for a long time, and due to the heatwave I had been having my windows fully open – meaning the light being on was attracting all the moths and midges. Yuck!

For Ā£1.50, these fairy light are bright – but not too bright – and they are really relaxing. They have been a perfect addition to my room.

Food & Drink – Starbucks // Cool Lime Refresha

As part of the Summer Bucket List I forced myself to go and sit outside and enjoy the sun. Obviously one of the bucket list items is to take a photo of a drink, so I headed to the Starbucks to get myself a Cool Lime Refresha.

Tasting exactly like a Virgin Mojito, this drink is amazing for the Summer. I am sure it will stay a Summer favourite for a very long time.

Place To Be – Staying Local

This month I have been loving staying local and exploring the places around me. Being a tourist in your hometown is pretty cool and you get to learn so much about the area you live in.

Another reason for this is I went to take some photo’s of things to see and do in my hometown ready for my ‘Travel in the UK’ series and learnt a lot which I didn’t already know.
