Welcome back to my Christmas Blogger Q&A series. The series is running from 1st December right up to the big day. Today we welcome Hannah and Liam from H&L Present.
H&L present is run by Hannah and Liam and focuses on Travel, specifically days out that won’t break the bank. We look mostly at local venues to us in the Midlands, but also across the UK, and use our passion for Photography to guide us through. We also post ‘behind the scenes’ and hints and tips posts for how to get the most out of your travelling, trying somewhere new and how we get those ‘insta-worthy’ shots. We hope to inspire others to get out and explore their local area – something we all take for granted.
1) Where do you spend Christmas Day and what do you usually do?
Liam– Normally Christmas day is spent at home with visits from family and enjoying time relaxing and eating plenty.
Hannah– At home with my parents and brother enjoying the Christmas cheer, cooking and falling asleep in front of the TV
Both-This is our first Christmas living together in our first house so our plans are going to be a little different this year
2) Do you have any traditions which your family have or you have started?
Liam– Our tradition is when we put the Christmas decorations up to have a Michael Buble Xmas special on and a glass (or two) of Baileys whilst doing it (I think Hannah may be keeping this tradition in our new house)
Hannah– I have a enjoy of listening to Michael Buble’s Christmas album on the 1st December. Also we have ‘Turkey Soup Day’ a few days after Christmas where my mum uses the left overs to make her now infamous Turkey soup, my nan and grandad come over to help eat it and its just a really nice day to relax after the hectic few days of Christmas itself.
3) Which Christmas character would you like to be and why?
Liam– Buddy the Elf because my birthday is the 23rd December I normally spend all over December being as (if not a little more at times) excited and full of Christmas cheer as Buddy
Hannah– Gonzo in ‘A muppet’s Christmas Carol’. I love Charles Dickens ‘Christmas Carol’ and the narration in this version of film always has me cracking up! Also how cool would it be to be a muppet!!
4) If you were able to invite 3 famous figures (past or present) to Christmas dinner, who would you invite and why?
Liam– David Guilmour (Lead singer and guitarist from Pink Floyd), David Bowie, John Lennon as a guitarist/musician these three have been a great inspiration to me and I’d love to have the chance to pick their brains on all things musical plus it would be an awesome jam session after dinner
Hannah– Mary Berry because she’d make a cracking dinner for everyone, David Tenant (preferably in full Doctor Who get up!) as I love his work and it’d be great to hear all the set stories and Daniel Radcliffe as I’m a massive Harry Potter fan and I think Dan would be a great laugh.
5) If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Liam– Having visited London several times during the festive season I do love the atmosphere in and around the capital, but if I were to pick somewhere I have never visited before I would have to say Prague as it looks sooooo pretty in the pictures I have seen and I think I’d have an absolute ball with pictures for the blog.
Hannah– I agree with Liam, London at Christmas is amazing but I’d love to go to Lapland to chill out with Santa where all the magic happens.
6) Tell us your best Christmas cracker joke…
Liam– Why was the snowman looking through the carrots? He was picking his nose
Hannah– How did Scrooge win the football match? The ghost of Christmas passed
7 ) In the past I have asked about your favourite song & movie, this year I’m asking, what is your favourite Christmas TV Special?
Liam– Dr Who has fast become a Christmas favourite for me however Christmas has so many choice (and old favourite re-runs) that I’m never short of choice
Hannah– Christmas telly is the best! I always enjoy the Dr Who special ( probably my favourite recently was the ‘Snowman’ episode a few years back in Victorian England) although apparently it’s not going to be on at Christmas this year – it’s been moved to New Years so something to look forward to! The Strictly special is always great and I love Call the Midwife too.
8) Do you own any Christmas Jumpers, and do you have any favourites?
Liam– Yes I own 2 Jumpers and several Christmas Ties. I like my festive Darth Vader one as it is such a juxtaposition on moods
Hannah– More than can be counted! My favourites are a Christmas Unicorn jumper and I also own a Darlek Christmas t-shirt that I really love (can you see a pattern yet?)
9) Do you usually hit the shops or do your shopping online?
Liam– About a 50/50 split normally depending on who I’m buying for
Hannah- Normally start in the shops to browse and then panic and end up buying online for those people I’ve forgotten
10) Where is your favourite place to visit on the run up to Christmas?
Liam– I’d normally say the Birmingham Christmas market however we had the chance to visit Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park last year and it was so good I think its now my new number one
Hannah– I’d have to agree with Liam on this one, although wherever there’s a Christmas Market I’ll visit!
What have you got coming up on your blog in 2019?
We’re in the process of redeveloping and redesigning our format and planning to focus more on our blog in 2019 after a hectic 2018 moving into our first house. By the time your reading this you should be able to see the start of what we have planned.
