Welcome back to my Christmas Blogger Q&A series. The series is running from 1st December right up to the big day. Today we welcome Jessica & James from Food & Baker.
Food & Baker
We are Jessica Bautista and James Baker, and for over three years we have been on a quest to create and find the very best food there is in the UK and beyond, and in doing so, travel to all corners of this wonderful world.
We put together a visual diary of our adventures, and slowly but surely Food & Baker has become what it is today.
We hope you enjoy reading about what we do as much as we love doing it!
1) Where do you spend Christmas Day and what do you usually do?
For the past two years, James and I have been blessed to be able to spend Christmas Day together at his family home in Chester. As well as being able to do so this year and for the first time, we’ll be spending Christmas Eve midnight with my family as that’s how we spend our Christmas together.
Christmas at the Baker household consists of waking up super early to gather around in the lounge to open our Christmas presents, followed by a light lunch and cheese boards. For the main event, a very grand Christmas dinner with everything you would expect, usually with the grandparents too.
2) Do you have any traditions which your family have or you have started?
My family is so big that our tradition, as mentioned above, is spending Christmas together on Christmas Eve night, which is where we eat all the food, both traditional and Filipino, open all our presents and spend the actual day with our immediate families or partner’s family.
In the Baker household, all the families and grandkids head to Grandma Baker’s for Boxing Day, play games and eat more food!
James and I have started our own little tradition leading up to Christmas, every year, we visit Winter Wonderland, have chocolate covered churros, see a new attraction and then head to Vapiano’s for dinner. We have done this every single year since we’ve met and I don’t think it’ll ever grow old!
3) Which Christmas character would you like to be and why?
This is such a good question. I would love to be Buddy the Elf – just so full of happiness and with an infectious Christmas spirit. As a child, I’d love to have been Kevin, the real adventure and mischief is just so funny!
4) If you were able to invite 3 famous figures (past or present) to Christmas dinner, who would you invite and why?
I’ve never really thought of this before, nor do I think I have a love for many famous figures in my life, I believe the only person I’d like to have Christmas dinner with if I could is Will Smith, simply because he’s a legend! Love everything he’s in, what he stands for and that he just seems like an amazing down to earth kind of guy!
5) If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Personally, I’ve never really thought about spending Christmas anywhere else, other than home/family but if I had to pick, I’d really like to spend Christmas in New York. This is purely based on films we’ve seen and just how grand everything seems to be there. I have never spent Christmas in Philippines before, so I would also like to experience that at least once in our lives!
6) Tell us your best Christmas cracker joke…
What did Santa do when he went speed dating?
He pulled a cracker
7 ) In the past I have asked about your favourite song & movie, this year I’m asking, what is your favourite Christmas TV Special?
I personally don’t any Christmas TV specials, but James has a few guilty pleasure like Gavin & Stacey and The Royle Family – none of which I, Jessica have seen but maybe I might just have to this year.
8) Do you own any Christmas Jumpers, and do you have any favourites?
For the past two years, we’ve worn the same Christmas jumper, along with a Santa onesie we wore once, which I’m sure we’ll use again this year but we are hoping to get new matching ones for this year!
9) Do you usually hit the shops or do your shopping online?
I am way too organised for myself, that I started my Christmas shopping in September via online shopping. I think there were only a handful of gifts we purchased in the shops.
You’d be surprised to know that I am not a fan of shopping itself, but we all know online shopping can be dangerous!
10) Where is your favourite place to visit on the run up to Christmas?
As mentioned previously, we traditionally like to visit Winter Wonderland in London, Hyde Park, as well as visiting the many Christmas markets that London have to offer, looking for the best boozy hot chocolate and hotdogs!
What have you got coming up in 2019?
We’ll be going to Miami in January, so we hope to get loads of content there for food and travel, as well as some travel vlog content. Followed by a few other trips we’ve been planning which will hopefully work out.
This past year has been slower than usual for us in terms of blogging, as we’ve been taking a step back to reevaluate what we want and are aiming with our blog overall. We love blogging and will continue, so there may be some big changes to come in the New Year!
