Welcome back to my Christmas Blogger Q&A series. The series is running from 1st December right up to the big day. Today we welcome Em from Em Rambles.
I’m Em, a proud Yorkshire blogger, who speaks openly about pretty much everything. Often my blog posts tend to be relatable think pieces about life as a millennial but I also don’t shy away from a cocktail recipe or 4.
I believe this could be my second or third Christmas Q/A with Steph and I’m so excited to be apart of it. Steph is such a great friend, blogger and all round person, so when she asked if I would like to be apart of this series again, I jumped at the chance!
1) Where do you spend Christmas Day and what do you usually do?
Honestly, my Christmas revolves around food. We wake up roll downstairs and open presents, whilst my dad cooks a bacon sandwich. This is my first year as a vegetarian and I’ve been so worried about how Christmas will change fore me.
After breakfast I spend the rest of the day reading and playing with the dog, but mainly filling time until Christmas dinner.
2) Do you have any traditions which your family have or you have started?
I think we’ve unwillingly developed a few over the years. One of my favourites is visiting York Christmas Market around my birthday. Often I spend too much money and leave with a bit of buyers regret- but I soon have a gin and forget about it. Others probably are visiting a local garden centre to look at decorations and buying a bottle of baileys that never gets opened!
Most years we also have a walk down the canal on Boxing Day- I mainly moan about how sludg-ey it is and look for a bench to sit at.
3) Which Christmas character would you like to be and why?
I have to admit that I’m not massively a fan of Christmas films, but if I had to pick one I’d say Iris (although, I wish I was Amanda woods) from the holiday! Very unlucky in love, and desperate to get away yet, I still celebrate Christmas with people that I care about.
I know it’s not really the Christmas film you were hoping for but it’s one of my favourite‘s. Perfect for an afternoon with a very large hot chocolate.
4) If you were able to invite 3 famous figures (past or present) to Christmas dinner, who would you invite and why?
Ooh! This is a tough! Julie Walters, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. These women all inspire me so much! They’ve always seemed to go with their gut instinct and have just been themselves.
And I bet theyed be the life and soul after prosecco pong!
5) If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I love spending Christmas at home! But I Wouldn’t mind popping over to Bali on Boxing Day! Sun, sea and Boxing Day? It’s a thing right?
6) Tell us your best Christmas cracker joke…
What does Miley Cyrus have for Christmas?
Yes, I know its truly awful.
7 ) In the past I have asked about your favourite song & movie, this year I’m asking, what is your favourite Christmas TV Special?
The Royale Family- Christmas one.
That such an easy one. My family and I have always related to the Royale family so much. As a very proud northerner, it reminds me so much of many Christmas evenings curled up with my grandparents watching not only this Christmas special, but the entire series.
Over the past few years we’ve lost the family hierarchy, so watching this show at Christ, as, may pull on my heartstrings, but it fills me with so much happiness.
Or Call The Midwife Christmas special *spoilers* I cry so hard my mum has to console me.
8) Do you own any Christmas Jumpers, and do you have any favourites?
I do but be recently lost a little bit of weight so I might have to invest in Another- the gaudier the better in my opinion.
I do love my Merry Gin-mas sweater my parents got bought me last year. I love my gin, sweaters and Christmas- so basically it was a perfect combination!
9) Do you usually hit the shops or do your shopping online?
A bit of both really. I tend to visit online stores like ASOS or I want one of those. There so good for little trinkets for stockings.
If I’m buying main presents, though, I tend to go into store. I like seeing first hand what I, buying. Also, i can judge how much of a pain they’ll be to wrap!
10) Where is your favourite place to visit on the run up to Christmas?
Honestly I’m probably going to sound incredibly boring (again) but it’s a Garden centre around a 45 minute drive from my home. Wentworth Garden centre is based in wentworth (shocker), a small quaint very English village. It’s home to deer, small stores and one of the most beautiful garden centres I have ever seen.
Every year they outdo themselves, with the Christmas displays, ice rinks and the most amazing hot chocolate I have ever had.
What do you have you got coming up in 2019?
As I sit and write this I have finally found my blogging mojo again, so my aim is throughout December to have a post up every day. Some of them won’t be Christmas related but I will also be sharing with you my favourite mulled wine recipes, a review of York Christmas market and maybe even a few gift ideas- WELL, if I have them.
Another massive change for me is that I am now working with a photographer. Rebecca Walker is insanity talented and whilst I am trying to better my content, I thought it was time to make a change to my imagery.
Before I forget, I have also just launched a new Instagram @whatemwears1 . I love clothing so I am hoping this new page will be something that allows me to channel that a little further.
