Welcome back to my Christmas Blogger Q&A series. The series is running from 1st December right up to the big day. Today we welcome Nicola from Daisy Grey.
I’m a 20 something year old from Manchester and I write about all my passions. Manchester, Food, Travel, Fashion and Beauty. I want my blog to be a positive place for anyone to come for tips like; the best countries for a Budget City Break, finding the best foodie spots in Manchester, or simply how I style wardrobe staples.
1) Where do you spend Christmas Day and what do you usually do?
Christmas Day can be a little difficult, as it is for most modern families! This year we will spend the morning with my partners family & then the afternoon/evening with my family. We swap this round each year & it can get a little stressful keeping everyone happy, but it does mean that we get to spend time with everyone.
2) Do you have any traditions which your family have or you have started?
Since living away from home, I have loved starting my own Christmas traditions! Each year I will make gingerbread cookies, mince pies & spend a lot of time at the Manchester Christmas markets. Once we have the tree up, my home always feels super festive when you can smell fresh Mince Pies!
3) Which Christmas character would you like to be and why?
If I could be any festive character, I would definitely be the ghost of Christmas present from A Muppets Christmas Carol! He’s always made me feel so happy, cheerful & full of good will. He comes alive each year to celebrate Christmas & that seems like a pretty perfect way to be!
4) If you were able to invite 3 famous figures (past or present) to Christmas dinner, who would you invite and why?
The 3 famous figures at my ultimate Christmas dinner would have to be Jamie Oliver; the perfect person to help me with any cooking! Next, I would probably pick John Legend. I have been listening to his new Christmas album on repeat this year & who better to sing carols with?! Finally, I would invite Micky Flanangan. Sounds like a bit of an odd choice, but I know everyone would definitely have a laugh!
5) If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
One day I would love to spend a Christmas in Nuremberg, Germany. My boyfriend and I’s families both come from Germany, and Nuremberg is home to one of one of the most festive Christmas Markets & just looks like such a magical looking place every Christmas!
6) Tell us your best Christmas cracker joke…
Why are Christmas trees so bad at knitting? … they always drop their needles! (Ok, it’s terrible, but their meant to be!)
7 ) In the past I have asked about your favourite song & movie, this year I’m asking, what is your favourite Christmas TV Special?
The one Christmas Special that I always used to look forward too at Christmas was, Downton Abbey. The costumes and decorations were always so festive and made me feel super Christmassy! Now, I definitely look forward to watching the food specials the most! Jamie Oliver, Nigella, Mary Berry and basically any festive cooking programme!
8) Do you own any Christmas Jumpers, and do you have any favourites?
I have three Christmas jumpers which I love! They are from New Look, Topshop & Next. They are really festive, but still have a little bit of style about them!
9) Do you usually hit the shops or do your shopping online?
I do a lot of my Christmas shopping online, but I will always head to the shops for certain gifts. Marks & Spencer is great for gifts for everyone and sometimes it makes me feel even more festive by going out and getting the presents myself!
10) Where is your favourite place to visit on the run up to Christmas?
I try to make my December as festive as possible. I love to visit lots of different places, to get into the festive mood. (Garden Centres, food markets, christmas cinemas etc) Although the Manchester German Christmas markets might seem like a very cliche & obvious choice for me, it is one of my favourite places to be during the festive period!
What have you been proud of in 2018?
2018 has been an amazing year for me and I have loved all the content I have created for my blog. Getting feedback on my posts and having people tell me that my posts have helped them or encouraged them to visit places, or come to Manchester makes me so happy! I have already planned lots of great ideas for 2019 and although I don’t want Christmas to come and go too quickly, I can’t wait to share all the new content with you all!
I truly hope you have an amazing Christmas and an even happier New Year!
