Welcome to day 19 of the Christmas Blogger Q&A. Today’s Christmas Q&A is with Sian from The English Everygirl.
The English Everygirl
Hi everyone, I’m Sian and I run The English Everygirl. I’m 24 and currently I’m studying for my Masters in Sports Journalism at Sheffield Hallam University. On my blog, I write about general lifestyle topics with a bit of beauty thrown in!
Question 1 – What’s your Christmas tradition?
Normally, I spend my Christmas Eve with my dad. My mum works in a card shop so she is always working. My dad and I usually spend the day watching our fave Christmas films, The Muppets Christmas Carol and Scrooged, whilst we wrap my mum’s presents and bake!
Christmas Day is usually spent just the three of us at home, generally having a lazy, family day. My dad and I tend to do the cooking as my mum is a terrible cook!
Question 2 – What is your favourite Christmas indulgence?
Can I say chocolate? Not that it has to be Christmas for me to binge on chocolate! Christmas is a time where I generally just indulge in all the foods!
Question 3 – What is the best gift you have ever received?
I’ve never been the kid that asks for a big present, I’ve always liked to open tonnes of smaller ones! I actually like getting socks and toiletries, that sort of stuff. It means I don’t have to buy it for myself throughout the year!
Question 4 – Are you an early gift buyer or leave them to the last minute?
I have always been an early gift buyer until this year. I’ve been so busy with uni and work that it’s already December and I’ve not bought a single gift!
Question 5 – Do you have a favourite shop to buy gifts?
I guess it depends on the person. I usually buy my dad TV box sets which I buy from Amazon, mum usually gets toiletries so I get those in Boots/Superdrug. Each of my friends have different tastes so I could get them a gift card from a specific shop, clothes, make-up, it just depends what they want! Pyjamas are usually a good shout though!
Question 6 – Is there something which you always wanted for Christmas but never got?
I’m an only child so I can’t remember a time when I didn’t get what I wanted! In all honesty, I was a spoilt child but not crazy spoilt. I rarely asked for a larger gift so I always got lots of smaller, cheaper items. My dad always taught me the value of money though!
Question 7 – What is the most thoughtful gift that you brought someone?
The best gifts I do are hampers. They’re thoughtful because I include their favourite products. I tend to make beauty hampers full of odd bits of make-up and toiletries. They’re inexpensive but I always buy the products that they use.
Question 8 – If you could be in any Christmas movie, which one would you be in?
I’m not really a Christmas movie fan but I adore The Muppets Christmas Carol so I’d want to be in that! Or one of those cheesy, romantic Hallmark films that have no real storyline but are good for watching whilst you’re wrapping presents!
Question 9 – What is your earliest Christmas memory?
Probably spending it with my whole family. My mum has a huge family so we used to go round to my Nanna’s on Christmas day and Boxing Day and I’d spend it playing with my presents with my cousins.
Question 10 – What makes Christmas special for you?
Christmas is all about family and relaxation for me. Now I’m away at university, I’ll only get to spend Christmas Eve and Day at home so I will be doing nothing but chilling out and eating all day long! It’s also a time to think about how thankful and grateful you are to have such an amazing family and set of friends.
