Welcome to day 10 of the Christmas Blogger Q&A. Today’s Christmas Q&A is with Jay from Comic Books & Yellow Ducks.
Comic Books & Yellow Ducks
I’m Jay, I’m 22 and I’m a big food and drink fan. I’m from Derby and I studied Journalism at The University of Derby graduating in 2016. I started my blog around three years ago after being encouraged by my lecturer to practice writing outside of uni work. When finishing uni, I really fell in love with reviewing, going to events and just writing in general. Comic Books & Yellow Ducks, I know, is a very out there name for a blog but it describes me perfectly, I’m into a bit of anything and everything. I like to try new things whether it be food, new cities, make up, skincare, haircare or even technology.
Question 1 – What’s your Christmas tradition?
I have quite a few Christmas traditions actually, with some being more recent from when I moved in with my other half and some which I’ve had since I was a little kid. The more recent ones include Camembert on Christmas Eve, swapping stockings with my partner on Christmas Eve and always having a joke present ready. The older traditions include watching Elf on Christmas Eve, Christmas dinner at my nans and Ritz & Philadelphia in the evening. We also have a Boxing Day party at my auntie’s every year.
Question 2 – What is your favourite Christmas indulgence?
I love to dive head first into the luxury foods at Christmas time like Camembert, M&S shortbread and Ferrero Rochers.
Question 3 – What is the best gift you have ever received?
Although they’ve already been bought, I’d probably say concert tickets to see my favourite band, Paramore. My nan offered to buy these for me for this year and I’m so excited to see them again in January!
Question 4 – Are you an early gift buyer or leave them to the last minute?
In the past I’ve left things to the last minute but the past two years, I’ve been early in buying them. I started in August this year and I’m not too far off finishing! I just find it a lot less stressful and you actually have money left around Christmas to go out and celebrate!
Question 5 – Do you have a favourite shop to buy gifts?
I really like buying quirky presents that no one else would think of buying from so TK Maxx is a big winner for me. Plus, a lot of their products are one of a kind and not too expensive either!
Question 6 – Is there something which you always wanted for Christmas but never got?
I think it’d have to be a MacBook but I know they’re far too expensive to ask for a present.
Question 7 – What is the most thoughtful gift that you brought someone?
I know it may sound silly but probably a Benefit make up set for my sister. She was unhappy because she could never afford to buy any of their products, so I bought her a big set of their stuff and I’ve never seen her so happy before.
Question 8 – If you could be in any Christmas movie, which one would you be in?
I’d probably say Elf because it’s the funniest in my opinion and I think I’d fit right in!
Question 9 – What is your earliest Christmas memory?
I must have been about 5 or so and opening a Barbie horse and carriage set. I was wearing red silk pyjamas and I remember it being too big, I couldn’t even pick it up.
Question 10 – What makes Christmas special for you?
I think its special to me is because I get to spend time with my small family and eat, drink and just be happy. I also love seeing the look on people’s faces when they open their presents.
What is something you have been proud of in terms of blogging this year?
I think I’m just proud of how far I’ve come within the past year. I think my photos have become a lot better and some of the opportunities I have been given have been amazing. I also started YouTube too which I’ve been wanting to do for years!
