April Monthly Favourites and Overview

April Monthly Favourites and Overview

Welcome to my monthly favourites and overview of the month of April. For me this month April has been a month of relaxation due to the weather in UK has been so unpredictable, meaning I couldn’t really plan any trips out.

First of all to kick off April, Steph’s World had it’s official launch into the world of blogging on Sunday 3rd April 2016, and I have been uploading on here regularly. Not only that but I have gained some great support from you guys along the way, so thank you too you reading this blog post.

These monthly overviews will be kind of like a snippet of what I did every week this month and also my monthly favourites, so I hope you will enjoy reading this. I will start off with my Monthly Favourites and then go onto what I have been up to this month.

April Monthly Favourites

TV Show Heroes

I am very late to this show, but my boyfriend thought it would be a great box set to get into; so we decided to pick up the blu-ray box set off Amazon for £29.99. I am really enjoying the first season so far and can’t wait to see how the characters develop.

Film – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Over the past few years I have been getting into superhero film and only usually watch Marvel. If you don’t already know, Batman and Superman are both DC characters; so I went into the film completely blind, but really enjoyed the film. It had some great action scenes but did lack momentum along the way unfortunately.

Music Pentatonix – No

This is a cover of Megan Trainer’s new song No, and as much as I like the original; I can’t help to love this version slightly more.  I mean, who can say no to a little Acapella?…You can? Aca-sucse me? (Pitch Perfect quote for those who don’t know).

Since Christmas 2015, I have been obsessed with Pentatonix. Their Christmas song Sleigh Ride was my go to Christmas song for that year, and immediately got me in the mood for christmas. Their songs are so uplifting and you can tell they take a lot of pride in their work.

Musical SoundtrackPhantom of the Opera

In July, I should be going to see Phantom of the Opera and since then I have been listening to the main song from the show called Phantom of the OperaI love the build-up of the song and love hearing the orchestra playing loud throughout. It’s a fantastic and legendary song which everyone knows, and just sets the listener a picture of the show perfectly.

Beauty Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 Eyeshadow Palette

I am still loving my Naked Basic 2 Eyeshadow Palette from the very beginning of the year. My blogpost on this palette and other Naked Palette’s will go into this more, so check it out for more info on this palette.

Shopping – Paperchase

I put my hands up and admit it, I have a stationary addiction and it’s getting worse. This month I have being shopping in my local Paperchase and got myself new notebooks and a diary (for my blog, it’s justified) and I had a big haul when a the sales hit. You can see what I picked up over at my Instagram.

Place to beHimley Hall

Himley Hall Park is a great place to relax and get some fresh air. This month I enjoyed taking a walk through the grounds, walking by the lake and taking pictures of all the flowers coming through. It’s great to see the seasons and colours changing and soon it will be Summer, which I am very excited about.

Food – Subway

This month for my lunches at work, I have been going to Subway more than I should. I am justifying it by saying I have a lot of Salad on my Subway, which is fine, right? I love my 6 inch Italian Herbs & Cheese, Steak and Cheese with salad, mayonnaise and a little salt & pepper, washed down with a refill drink and an M&M cookie all for £4.59.

What I did this month…

The first weekend of the month I had a lazy Saturday in the day and on the night we went out for a lovely meal at Birmingham’s Rub Smokehouse (Broad Street) and then went for a few drinks at The Wellington (Bennett’s Hill) which is a real ale pub and we sat outside on the little roof terrace which was lovely and relaxing. During this week I also decided to join the pilates workout class at work. I used to go to pilates last year and really enjoyed the relaxation aspect of it as well as the exercise. Who doesn’t like an exercise which you spend lying down most of the time? This Sunday I uploaded my first official blogpost which was my theatre review of Matilda The Musical in the West End (London). I have seen numerous West End shows and can’t wait to upload these soon.

The second weekend of the month I spent mainly at home chilling. The Saturday I spent in the house watching TV and recharging my batteries from the busy week at work and the busy upcoming weeks. On the Sunday I went for a walk over Himley Hall (which has a big woodland area and lake) and took my camera over to take a test out and take a few shots. Some weekends you just need to do something relaxing (and free!!!). This Sunday I uploaded my Very Easy Cupcake Recipe which I hope at least one of you baked. If you did, let me know.

The third weekend of the month was another relaxing weekend. Saturday I had a late start and in the day I had a lovely dinner out at the local cafe in my village and a nice stroll home, stopping off to by a great Woodwick candle which crackles as it burns! I took a video of this and will do a blog post on it sometime soon. I had 2 takeaways this weekend, 1 on Friday night and 1 on Saturday night with my boyfriend and his sisters. Sunday we woke up and all decided to go for a Hickory’s Smokehouse breakfast which for me consisted of a mountain of fluffy pancakes, bacon and tons of maple syrup. It’s clear to see that this weekend was not a healthy weekend being full of food, TV, blog writing and more food. This week I wrote 2 blogposts. Due to going to see Derren Brown on Monday 11th April, I decided to write my review in case any of you wanted to read up about the show before going. On Sunday I uploaded my review on West Midlands Safari Park which included what was in the park and also my top tips, you should check it out if you want to plan what to do during the Summer.

The fourth weekend of the month I went shopping to my local shopping centre, Merry Hill. My big buy of the day was the new and highly talked about Clinique Chubby in the Nude foundation stick, which I have done a First Impressions Review of on my blog. On Sunday I uploaded my beauty review on the Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palettes. Let me know what you thought and any recommendations you have.

As I am uploading this on 30th April and tomorrow is 1st of May, I have decided to upload this weekends activities on my May Monthly Overview.
